Adolescent Psychiatry and Child Abuse

 

The child and adolescent psychiatrist is a doctor who specializes in the treatment and the diagnosis of disorders of thinking, feeling and/or geste affecting adolescents, children, and their families. A child and adolescent psychiatrist offers families the advantages of a medical education, the medical traditions of professional ethics, and medical responsibility for furnishing comprehensive care Child psychiatry is primarily concerned with the study and treatment of behavioral diseases and emotional problems that affect children. Emotional maladjustments of children constantly are characterized by anxiety response.

Child abuse or child maltreatment is physical, sexual, and/ or cerebral maltreatment or neglect of a child or children, especially by a parent or a caregiver. Child abuse may include any act or failure to act by a parent or a caregiver that results in factual or implicit detriment to a child and can do in a child's home, or in the associations, seminaries, or communities the child interacts with. The terms child abuse and child maltreatment are frequently used interchangeably, although some experimenters make a distinction between them, treating child maltreatment as a marquee term to cover neglect, exploitation, and trafficking.
